Pulled dough potato pie is a sort of flat cake “pogača” made of hand-pulled dough and filled with potatoes. The term “pogača” – flat cake was used for better-baked strong dishes. We can prepare potato pie from different types of dough. It can be prepare with pulled dough or potato dough or leavened dough. In Slovenia, we slowly started growing potatoes in the 18th century. Due to many years of poor grain harvest and the associated famine, growing potatoes spread in Slovenia in the first half of the 19th century. At first, potatoes were used to feed the pigs and making brandy, only later it became important and indispensable to use in cuisine.
