From dried pears, people often prepared perry, “hruševka” (pear water), compote, fruit wine and brandy. In the past, dried pears were often added to mush, porridge, filling for “krapi” … and in medicine (e.g. pear compote with no added sugar was consumed as a dietary dish). Young pear leaves, however, were used for tea against bladder and kidney diseases.

Often overlooked drink, mentioned also by Ivan Cankar in his work Črtice* - ”In one spacious vestibule we sat behind a table on a bench, ate wheat bread and drank cold, sweet hruševka”.
