Dumplings (the word štrukli – Struckel is taken from Austrian German) is one of the most typical holiday dishes. Rolled dumpling from Zagorje »Zagorski štrukli” is an autochthonous Croatian dessert. Dedicated to this dish is also the Štruklijada event, which is organized during summer months in the Krapina-Zagorje County in various cultural heritage areas (museums …). It has been organized since 2009 and its main goal is to promote and protect this dish, which is a recognizable brand of Zagorje. At the event many caterers present and compete with rolled dumplings. The event each year attracts many visitors and they can eat as many rolled dumplings from Zagorje as they want, while also seeing the beauties of this area of culinary transversal.
